PWInsider.com is reporting Kane was attacked backstage at WWE Extreme Rules due to a current injury.
According to the report, Kane is currently dealing with a left foot injury; he was spotted wearing a walking boot backstage at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. The attack by the Bludgeon Brothers was a way to write his injury into the current storyline.
As seen during tonight’s Smackdown Tag Team Championship match, Kane did not appear during the opening introductions, but came out in the middle of the match wearing a boot. Even with the late appearance by Kane, Team Hell No was still unsuccessful in their bid for another tag title run.
