Looking At Four Possible Matches Shaping Up For WrestleMania 35

WWE Universal Championship: Seth Rollins (c) vs Roman Reigns

This match requires quite a LOT of changes to take place over the next several months. They almost certainly won’t take place, this is simply for fantasy booking.

Let’s say Seth Rollins wins his way into title contention once again. Braun Strowman cashes in the MITB briefcase and pins Lesnar for the title. At some point, Rollins finally overcomes the giant and takes his rightful spot on top of Raw. Eventually, we see Rollins retain against Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns in a triple threat match. Dean shakes Rollins’s hand, Reigns spears both of his former partners repeatedly, leaving the arena fuming. The next night on Raw, Reigns finally blows a gasket and lets his dark side take over, turning into a full-blown monster heel. He lashes out at the WWE Universe and says he doesn’t care what they say, he’s been hearing them boo for years now. Reigns enters the Rumble and is the last man eliminated by Finn Balor. Rollins retains in the elimination chamber, in which Reigns is somehow eliminated first via roll-up even though he was the last man to enter. He spears everyone and leaves angry once again.

The next night, he savagely attacks other potential world title opponents until finally, Kurt Angle decides to calm Reigns down and asks him what he wants. Reigns asks Angle if he’s stupid, saying what he wants is obvious, and if he doesn’t make the announcement right now, he will hold nothing back and will retire him for good. Angle says Reigns isn’t getting a Universal title match and he is banned from ‘Mania, which prompts Reigns to attack him. Before he is speared, Rollins makes the save and tosses Reigns out of the ring before saying he will put the title on the line at WrestleMania, which is made official despite Kurt Angle’s decision earlier.

At WrestleMania, Reigns pummels Rollins throughout the match, who puts up a good effort, but loses the title to Reigns. The caveat is we now have a FULL-TIME monster heel champion.

Again, this was purely for discussion’s sake. A Roman Reigns heel turn would be completely out of left field. 

Ronda Rousey vs Charlotte Flair

This match was on everyone’s minds the instant we saw Rousey debut at the 2018 Royal Rumble PPV. Both women are true main event caliber performers who are at the top of their game. For that reason, neither women’s championship will be on the line.

With the women’s division as good as it has ever been, don’t be surprised if this one closes the show.

The set-up? Ronda Rousey at some point in 2018 starts to wrestle more often on Raw and live events. This will help her get better in the ring. After a decent run with the Raw women’s championship, she eventually loses it in a triple threat match, but is not the woman pinned. Rather than go after the title again, Rousey and Charlotte bump into each other backstage and the build-up begins. The two have a respect feud, but not all smiles and giggles. It is all stare-downs and building their background up, much like a traditional UFC fight is built. The press conference sees the two stand up and almost fight each other, but they hold back and leave it for WrestleMania.

At the event, the match closes the show, in which Rousey is able to keep up with Charlotte and keep us all in suspense. Charlotte wins via submission, paying homage to Rousey’s UFC background. The show ends with a confetti shower for Charlotte after shaking hands with Rousey.

Many would argue that the Raw Women’s Championship should be on the line. But this match is big enough that it doesn’t need it, which results in 3 women’s matches at Mania as the two titles are on the line and give others the chance to shine as well (Asuka vs Kairi Sane, anyone?).

While it may not go down exactly as I have it here, this match is the most likely to happen out of the four in this article. The women have been kicking ass, even outdoing the guys on numerous occasions. Letting them close out at least one major PPV would be a testament to their hard work.
