Sports Illustrated’s Richard Deitsch is reporting FOX Sports executives were in attendance at last night’s WWE Smackdown TV tapings in Los Angeles, which led to speculation regarding WWE’s broadcast home.
FOX Sports President Eric Shanks, talent producer Jacob Ullman and host Colin Cowherd were mentioned by Deitsch as the three names who were in attendance at the taping. (Cowherd’s appearance was pretty well publicized due a photo he posted of himself backstage with Charlotte Flair and Natalya)
Last year, Variety reported FOX was one of the suitors in the bid to get WWE, with the network looking to replace UFC with more first-run live content.
At the time, Stephanie McMahon said:
“We are incredibly happy with our partnership with USA. In terms of what the future might hold, I guess we’ll see, but we’ve been very, very happy and I hope NBC is happy as well.”
