Former WWE / TNA star Tyrus was a recent guest on the Arm Drag Takedown podcast with Pollo Del Mar, and spoke about what led to his Impact Wrestling departure.
Tyrus explained that behind-the-scenes issues with Jeff Jarrett and TNA management led to him leaving the company; you can read a few excerpts from the interview and listen to the show below:
“When Jeff Jarrett came along — because him and I have an uncomfortable history — I just wasn’t comfortable with the management. They [TNA] didn’t want me working for Jeff.
Basically, it came down to either stay with Impact or I could go with Global. I was making more with Impact, and Global didn’t have the resources to pay me what I was making. [Jeff] was basically saying it was better for me to come to Global, because Impact was about to fold. He was very adamant about that. Two weeks later, at the TV tapings, guess whose ass is there working the shows? Jeff Jarrett,” Tyrus said in a jaw-dropping revelation. “I was like, ‘Bitch, [are] you crazy?!?’ Who does that?”
Tyrus went on to explain how he felt about the situation and Jarrett’s betrayal, and said he intentionally avoided the GFW invasion angle to avoid Jarrett.
“Check it: If I would have quit and taken money out of my family’s mouths, went and worked there and then, ‘Oh, we’re going to have to go work Impact…’ How would that have gone?!”
Tyrus also said once Jarrett moved up in power with Impact, he knew his time with the company was drawing to a close.
“I was like, ‘Oh, shit! Well, I’m out.’ Unless [Jarrett] and I were going to have a sitdown, which just wasn’t going to happen, I knew this was not going to be a spot for me,” he said. “I just wasn’t comfortable with it.”
