United States Championship Match

AJ Styles (c) vs. Kevin Owens

Special Referee: Baron Corbin

Owens immediately bailed to the floor as soon as the bell rang, and Corbin did literally nothing about it, much to the frustration of Styles. KO took a cheap shot from behind and Corbin watched on from the corner, but the champion battled back and took out his opponent with a dive to the outside as we go to the final commercial break of the night.

After the break AJ hit a pele kick that sent the challenger back to the floor, tried to follow up but he got slammed down hard on the apron to change the momentum. Owens threw him into the barricade as Corbin pretended to care. From there KO slowed things down with a side headlock on the mat, yelling obscenities and taunting his rival.  Styles slowly fought out of it and broke the hold with a facebuster to send both men down. AJ fired off with stiff right hands that looked like they actually connected, followed by a quick lariat and a sliding forearm. He kipped up and connected with a splash in the corner, then planted the Ushigoroshi for two. There was a bit of a staredown between the champion and the referee and Owens tried to take advantage, but got caught in the Calf Crusher instead. KO clawed his way to the bottom rope as AJ cranked down on the ankle, then rolled him back to the center of the ring to reapply the hold. Corbin made him break the hold saying that Owens got his hands on the rope, which wasn’t true at all.

AJ got in his face and the challenger threw them into each other, which caused them to start screaming at one another. Owens went for a cheap roll-up but Styles got his shoulder up at the last second on a fast count. Shane McMahon ran out and started yelling at Baron Corbin to do his job, meanwhile KO hit a low blow. Corbin went to make the count but Shane pulled him out of the ring and the two nearly came to blows. Owens is just livid now as Baron removed his ref jersey and threw it in McMahon’s face. The challenger rolled outside and freaked the heck out as Shane put the shirt on and apparently took control of the match as official. AJ came out of nowhere with the Phenomenal Forearm, connecting with it, and Shane counted the three.

Winner and Still Champion: AJ Styles

The announcers put over that Kevin Owens will never get another shot at the US title while AJ Styles is champion. Shane and Styles posed in the ring and celebrated as KO watched on from the ramp, looking like he was about to legitimately murder everyone in Brooklyn.
