WWE Smackdown Results (7/18): Charlotte Flair vs Becky Lynch, Jinder Mahal Reveals the Punjabi Prison, Styles & Nakamura Team Up

– We were treated to a recap of Kurt Angle’s “major life-altering Dixie Carter TNA level breaking news” announcement from Raw this week. Renee Young was backstage with Chad Gable, trying to keep a straight face while talking about Jason Jordan being Kurt Angle’s son. Chad said that he wasn’t told about any of this, and would have appreciated a little heads up since they basically lived together on the road as a tag team. Renee asked what this all means for Gable now that his partner has moved on to Raw. Chad talked about their history and success in American Alpha and promises to support his friend no matter what. He also promised that he has some ideas and surprises on what’s next for him.

– They showed footage of Sami Zayn getting beaten up by the Power of Love last week on Smackdown Live. Up next is the in-ring debut of Mike Kanellis..

Mike Kanellis vs. Sami Zayn

Sami fired off with mounted punches in the corner to get things started. Kanellis bailed to the floor to catch his breath, but got taken out with a clotheslines instead. Sami rolled his opponent back into the ring, just to dump him back over the ropes with another clothesline, then threw him hard into the barricade as Maria watched on. In total control Zayn set up for the Helluva Kick but Maria hit the ring and got in between them. The referee escorted her back to ringside and Mike took a cheap shot off the distraction with a big right hand, then hit a Samoan Driver to win in his WWE in-ring debut. // Winner: Mike Kanellis
