When WWE placed five of their top stars of Raw – Roman Reigns, Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Samoa Joe, and Bray Wyatt – in the main event of the Extreme Rules pay-per-view, the plan was to eventually have just about every participant face Brock Lesnar in a singles match leading into WrestleMania 34, with Reigns competing against Lesnar in New Orleans.

Samoa Joe is vying for the WWE Universal Championship at Great Balls of Fire, and WWE teased that Finn Balor was going to get an opportunity to win his title back in the coming months. There has even been speculation by PWInsider that Rollins is going to headline Survivor Series against Lesnar, for the purposes of further promoting WWE 2K18, similar to what spawned the Goldberg/Lesnar match last year.

However, according to the Wrestling Observer Radio, the planned title match for Balor has apparently been scrapped.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter also reported that the match between Reigns and Lesnar looks to be moved up to SummerSlam, with the logic behind it being that WWE would have someone who could defend the title more frequently than Lesnar is now. This would most likely put Reigns as the victor of his match against Strowman at GBOF. As a result, it changes plans on Balor getting his title match against Lesnar.

Rollins, however, could still have a match for the title to promote the game. On the contrary, Balor does not have that kind of insurance to guarantee a title match if Reigns wins.
