WWE Rescinds Offer for Legend to Appear at MITB
As noted, WWE is planning some type of Legends segment featuring names such as Ric Flair and Bob Orton at WWE Money in the Bank on Sunday in St. Louis.
According to The Wrestling Observer, another Legend who was approached by WWE to appear at the PPV was Larry Matysik, a TV announcer from 1971 – 1983. The offer, however, had to be rescinded, and WWE’s reason was due to Matysik using a power wheelchair which is not compliant with the building’s fire code.
However, the report adds with pretty much all modern arenas, that is not the case, so it remains unclear why Matysik’s offer was pulled by WWE. With the usual angle that younger heels end up bullying old stars and Legends, it’s possible WWE did not want to do that with Matysik being in a wheelchair, as it could come across looking bad and even worse if any sort of physicality took place.
