Update on Shibata’s Health and Future
As noted, Katsuyori Shibata was injured during his main event match against Kazuchika Okada at NJPW’s Sakura Genesis on April 9th. During the bout, Shibata was hit with a stiff headbutt from Okada, and he was later taken to the hospital and diagnosed with a subdural hematoma. Although Shibata underwent successful surgery and is expected to fully recover from the injury, it appears as if his Genesis match might have been his last.
@STRIGGA is now reporting the following on Shibata:
Last week he wrote that if there’s a bacterial infection on the cut within the next 3 years craniotomy operation would have to be redone.

In his new blog entry Katsuyori Shibata says he currently receives treatment for his brain and right eye with a special treatment device.

Details on New Film Featuring Luke Harper
Entertainment Weekly has published a first look at the action-horror film, Mohawk, which features WWE star Luke Harper. The film will hold its world premiere at this year’s Fantasia International Film Festival and the following is the synopsis:
“Set in 1814, [Director] Geoghegan’s film concerns two Mohawk warriors and their British lover who are pursued by murderous American military renegades hellbent on revenge.”
Jim Ross Reveals SummerSlam Weekend Plans
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has announced he will be in Brooklyn for a “Ringside” one-man show during WWE SummerSlam weekend:
“Excited to announce that we will be presenting a RINGSIDE with Jim Ross Show in NYC Summer Slam weekend on Friday night August 18 at the Gotham Comedy Club, 208 West 23rd St between 7th and 8th avenues, with a VIP meet/greet/photos from 5;30-6:45 with the show starting at 7:30 pm. Tickets go on sale Tuesday June 27 at 10 am at gothamcomedyclub.com. We will only have 100 VIP tickets available for this huge event while general admission tickets are $30. We’re planning on a special night in the Big Apple and I’d suggest that ample ‘surprises’ are likely. Get your tickets early when they go on sale Tuesday morning at 10 am ET on June 27.”
