Backstage Segment: The Hype Bros
Mojo is interviewed about his loss to WWE Champion Jinder Mahal last week, and essentially said that he’s happy he lost because he knows how to handle adversity, and promises to bounce back bigger and stronger than ever. Zack Ryder then made a surprise return, and told Mojo that they had unfinished business as a tag team. Looks like the Hype Bros are back!
NAOMI vs. TAMINA SNUKA
Before the match could get started, Lana made her way to ringside and glared at the women’s champion. Part of the crowd started chanting “We Want Rusev” – a new twist on an old classic! Tamina went right after the distracted champion as soon as the bell rang, and began throwing her around the ring by her hair. She put on a chinlock to slow things down, clubbing away at her opponent’s back to keep her from mounting a comeback. Naomi fired off with a few stiff kicks, but Tamina just tossed her away with tremendous strength. The challenger nailed a devastating splash to the seated champion in the corner, and it looked to be lights until until she got her shoulder up just before the three-count. Tamina kept the pressure on for several minutes, manhandling the champion with holds and huge throws until finally Naomi caught her with a flash kick off the ropes. Almost as quickly as the momentum came, it was extinguished as Snuka caught her and planted her with a huge spinning STO. Tamina went to the top rope, and Naomi quickly caught her with a kick to take her off balance, threw the challenger to the floor and followed up with a split-leg moonsault to pick up the win.
Winner: Naomi
After the match, Lana attacked Naomi from behind and hit her with what appears to be a brand new finisher – something of a bear hug into a sit-down slam. It looked pretty impressive! Lana posed with the championship over a laid out Naomi to end the segment.
