Renee Young is joined by Smackdown Live’s Commissioner Shane McMahon. They begin by giving congratulations to Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella on the birth of their new baby girl.
First Guest: Jinder Mahal
Jinder Mahal says he is the crowned jewel of Smackdown. He tells them not to be surprised when he wins the WWE Championship on Sunday.
McMahon gives Mahal kudos for taking advantages of the opportunities that were given to him. Young believes Mahal took matters into his own hands by stealing the WWE Championship a few weeks ago. Mahal tells her that he was trying to get into Randy Orton’s head. He adds that Orton has lost his edge and that he is not the same man he used to be.
Mahal has shown that the champion is beatable. He knows that Orton knows that he will lose Sunday. Mahal feels that he is on a role and is unstoppable.
McMahon reminds him that one RKO is all it will take for Orton to win. Mahal is not fazed by that because Orton has not done it yet.
Young asks what Mahal’s relationship is with the Singh Brothers. Mahal tells her not to worry about it and to direct all of her questions to him. He says they are his brothers and will be with him at Backlash.
After Mahal leaves, McMahon says that he is impressed by how Mahal has performed. He is excited to watch the match even though he thinks Mahal is too confident. His advice to Mahal is to really believe what he is saying because if he does he will be truly dangerous.
Second Guest: Erick Rowan
Erick Rowan interrupts the hosts and tell the commissioner that he has something for him. He has something that makes him smile and laugh. He pulls out a sheep mask and puts it on. He gets a balloon and hands it to Young. He then pops the balloon and gives a cynical laugh.
Young asks Rowan how he is doing ever since the Wyatt Family disbanded. He says a family is like sheep. He pulls out more sheep masks as he counts. He says he likes to count sheep because it helps him sleep.
He was very upset that Luke Harper left the family. He believes Harper needs more punishment. He asks McMahon to make a match between the two at Backlash. The commissioner says he is happy to grant his wish.
Before he leaves, Rowan brings out another sheep mask that calms him. He rubs some of the wool on his face and tries to rub it on Young. Both of the hosts are clearly disturbed at this point and are standing.
Rowan puts on a mask and clams down. They let him stay there until he is calm.
After everything is settled, the hosts talk about the Tag Team Division. McMahon believes the Usos are seasoned pros and will not have any problems since they have not had an actual match in a few weeks’
For the US Title, McMahon believes AJ Styles should not be counted out. Even though he lost to Jinder Mahal tonight he adds it was because Kevin Owens interfered.
Another match that will take place at Backlash is Dolph Ziggler vs Shinsuke Nakamura. Both hosts believe that Nakamura is an accomplished superstar even though he has never had a match on Smackdown Live. McMahon also believes he will have a tough match Sunday against Ziggler because Ziggler is an accomplished superstar also.
Third Group: Naomi, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch
After taking a look at the interference that happened during their match a few weeks ago, Charlotte tells Naomi that they still have unfinished business. Naomi does not mind finishing that business but she tells her that they first have to take out the welcoming committee. Naomi says she still has to prove to herself and the WWE Universe that she is the best woman on the roster.
Becky Lynch says they are all former champions which makes them a championship caliber team. But she knows they all have to stick together.
They look at the video of Lynch turning down the welcoming committee. She says she knew all along that she was going to turn them down because they tried to give her an ultimatum. She says they have problems.
Charlotte believes that Natalya is the one to worry about because she seems like the leader of the group. She adds that she cannot take Tamina lightly because she does have so much power. She says that she is on the same team as Becky and Naomi and they all will take her down at WWE Backlash.
