John Cena kicks off the show with an in-ring promo, acknowledging the crowd response saying he’s missed it. Cena puts over the show’s matches and hypes up the crowd, then says it brings him back to the question of why he’s there. A loud Undertaker chant breaks out, and Cena says it sounds like people have been speculating about his status, and that he’s going to Hollywood and washed up, but he’s not going anywhere. Cena says he’s sick of the new era because it’s still his era, and he’s challenging the winner of tonight’s WWE Championship match to a match at the Royal Rumble. Cena ends it by saying if they think he can’t do that, he just did, because he’s John Cena.
Dasha Fuentes tries to get a word with The Miz, but Maryse answers the door and ends up closing it on her. Miz comes back out and says he’s only answering questions that are posed by Renee Young, the ‘unprofessional journalist’ who slapped him last week.
