Rick Rude’s Son Reportedly Killed in Motorcycle Accident

According to The Rome News Tribune, Nineteen-year-old Colton Rood, the son of the late WWE legend “Ravishing” Rick Rude, died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle wreck on Floyd Springs Road on Saturday afternoon, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Gene Proctor.

Rood, of 22 Norman Lane in Rome, played basketball for Armuchee High School and graduated in 2015. He was pronounced dead at 3:37 p.m. Saturday in Floyd Medical Center, Proctor said.

Floyd County police officer Ron Hunton said Rood was traveling south on Floyd Springs Road on a 2014 Yamaha 950 motorcycle when a 2010 silver Toyota Camry turned into his path at around 2:50 p.m.

The driver of the Camry, 58-year-old Tonita Jo Rudd of Kennesaw, was northbound and was trying to turn left into a driveway, Hunton added.

She was charged with misdemeanor vehicular homicide and failure to yield and was being held in jail on a $2,600 bond Saturday night.

“We ask drivers to be wary,” Hunton said. “It is the holiday weekend and more cars and motorcycles are on the road.”

He asked drivers to make sure they look both ways and keep an eye out for motorcycles.

Rood’s body will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy. Proctor said it’s a routine “fact-finding” procedure that is standard procedure when a driver is charged with a crime.
