Steve Austin Praises The Revival
This week’s episode of the family-friendly version of The Steve Austin Show features the current reigning NXT Tag Team Champions Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder, The Revival. The WWE Hall of Famer had incredibly high praise for their recent title match against Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II, which aired during SummerSlam weekend.
“I’ll tell you what, when I started watching that match – off the charts. … You guys started working the body part right off the bat, and I dug that. What I liked about the match was the layout. Viscous. Mean. You have a mean streak. Some of the key components I always talk about in being a good, effective heel, is just having a mean streak, and that’s what you guys got. You didn’t pander to the crowd, you’re not begging for approval or trying to elect a response that’s not there.
On the other hand of the spectrum, your babyfaces – those two guys worked their asses off. Those guys have tremendous fire, and they sold like crazy, as did you guys. A lot of stuff in play here. Manipulation of the referee. … There was so much team work in this thing, it was very refreshing. I started smiling, because I started seeing a lot of things that you don’t see anymore in tag team wrestling. It builds to a great finish; tremendous finish. I was laughing my ass off, because I was so entertained to see such high level work, because I’m a huge tag team fan. I digested the match for a little bit, and then I went back and watched it again.”
Fans Petition to Demilitarize Roman Reigns
A humorous post made its way to the front page of the r/SquaredCircle Reddit community this week, ranting on the military style gear worn by former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns. The post was at least partially inspired by a funny segment during this week’s Raw main event, where Kevin Owens chopped Reigns and sold his own hand like the body armor had hurt him.
“Upon closer inspection, I have come to the conclusion that Roman Reigns has been using this vest his ENTIRE MAIN ROSTER CAREER. This is shocking and appalling, and frankly damages the integrity of the sport. I demand that
President Jack TunneyCommissioner Stephanie McMahon do something about this immediate and remove this unfair advantage from Monday Night Raw.”
The parody continues, as the same fan who made the initial post has started a Change.org petition to get the “illegal” gear and all body armor removed from “future WWE contests by Mr. Reigns and anyone else.” The petition, which will apparently be sent to Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Jack Tunney, Mick Foley, President Barack Obama, California congressman Tony Cardenas, and Maryland congressman Elijah Cummings (I don’t know why either), among others, received over 550 signatures in its first 13 hours.
Truly, this the best use of our democratic power as a nation.
