The Destruction tour is an annual part of the New Japan Pro Wrestling schedule, but this year for the first time, the promotion will be doing three major shows in September. The shows will feature fallout from the G1 Climax tournament, as well as the Best of the Super Juniors tournament and the Super J-Cup. Several stars from Pro Wrestling Noah will also be on the Destruction tour, continuing the programs set up during the G1 and Super J-Cup that will likely continue all the way to Wrestle Kingdom in January.
Kushida defending the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship against Los Ingobernables de Japon member Bushi will headline Destruction in Tokyo on 9/17. Katsuyori Shibata will also defend the NEVER Openweight Championship against Ring of Honor’s TV Champion Bobby Fish.
At Destruction in Hiroshima on 9/22, Bullet Club leader Kenny Omega will defend his G1 Climax briefcase against Yoshi-Hashi, who had an extremely popular performance in this year’s tournament. IWGP Jr. tag champions the Young Bucks will challenge for the IWGP Heavyweight tag titles on this show as well, plus IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada vs. Bad Luck Fale, and Will Ospreay vs. Ring of Honor Champion Adam Cole.
Michael Elgin will defend the IWGP Intercontinental Championship against Tetsuya Naito at Destruction in Kobe on 9/25. The NEVER Openweight 6-man tag titles will also be on the line as Matt Sydal, Ricochet and Satoshi Kojima face off against Bullet Club members Adam Cole and the Young Bucks.
Finally, the main event for NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling on October 10th has been set. Kazuchika Okada will defend the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against the ace of Pro Wrestling Noah Naomichi Marufuji in a rematch from their incredible match during the G1 Climax.
New Japan World will have all three Destruction shows, as well as the 9/12 Road to Destruction house show at Korakuen Hall, plus King of Pro-Wrestling on 10/10 and the Young Lions project on 9/1 that will feature most of the current Young Lions (wrestlers in training) in New Japan and Noah facing off in matches against established stars and veterans.
