On WWE’s decision to allow Brock Lesnar to be exempt from the WWE Wellness Policy:

EB: I didn’t read that statement and this is the first I’ve heard of it. I’m kind of surprised, frankly. The WWE has done such a great job over the last decade of really enforcing their wellness policy and really taking the lead in some respects. They have a much more aggressive stance than a lot of professional sports organizations. To accommodate a situation like this, especially under the circumstances, given the spotlight that Brock has been under as a result. Not only participating in the UFC but winning his fight and then subsequently failing a drug test. I’m a little surprised because it really opens the door for a lot of criticism towards the WWE Wellness Policy. They run such a tight ship there that quite frankly I’m surprised.

On Mark Hunt’s recent comments about how his last three opponents have been flagged for USADA violations:

EB: Mark’s got to be very frustrated. The last thing that I read about 48 hours ago was that Mark Hunt made a comment that nobody from the UFC has even contacted him post-fight. Post-revelation of the drug test failure by Brock Lesnar. On principle I find that to be really unprofessional I guess… that’s the mildest way I could say it. I don’t know Mark Hunt. I’ve known of Mark Hunt dating back to the mid-90s when I actually traveled to Tokyo with Sonny Onoo to do color and play-by-play at one of the early K-1 events. Mark Hunt was a fighter in K-1. I am very familiar with him and called some of his early fights in the beginning of his career. Mark was very vocal going in to the fight about the prevalence of performance enhancing drugs and his concern that Brock in particular was guilty of that. Especially in light of his comments even before the fight. For no one to reach out to Mark and discuss this I find it hard to comprehend.

In the full episode Eric also discusses:

  • How Brock’s violations affects the perception of him and the pro wrestling business
  • Paul Heyman working for WWE without a contract and what he may want to do outside of WWE
  • Mick Foley and Daniel Bryan as the new RAW and Smackdown GMs
  • Finn Balor as the new #1 contender to the WWE Universal Championship
  • Sasha Banks as the new WWE Women’s Champion
  • More…
