New Japan Stars Mock WWE’s New Day
Our top story today is Brock Lesnar’s critical response to Stephanie McMahon’s comments about his upcoming UFC fight, but first, some top quality inter-promotional banter happened at New Japan’sKizuna Road event on yesterday morning.
The New Japan faction The Elite, made up of Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, have had an online feud with WWE’s The New Day stretching back to the start of this year. Back in February, Omega issued a challenge to the WWE Tag Team Champions on Twitter, to which The New Day responded by claiming they’re the best trio anywhere – including Japan.
The latest development happened at New Japan’s Kizuna Road event, where Omega and the Young Bucks mocked The New Day in their entrance – with all three wearing New Day t-shirts, Matt and Nick Jackson shaking their booties everywhere – a process I believe is called ‘twerking’ – and Omega playing his trademark mop like a trombone.
In real life, Omega and The New Day’s Xavier Woods are actually very good friends, but for a fan, this kind of subtle feuding from a team in WWE – a company which traditionally prefers not to acknowledge the existence of any other wrestling promotions – against New Japan is exceedingly fun. And it just goes to show how influential the Bullet Club faction are, with many of its ex-members dominating WWE’s main and developmental rosters.
But now, New Day – your move.
