Stephanie McMahon on Most Powerful Women in Sports List, WWE Superstars Get Ribera Jackets in Japan, This Weekend’s Birthdays

McMahon & Rousey Most Powerful Women in Sports

Stephanie McMahon was named one of the 30 most powerful women in sports by AdWeek.com. The list also includes several executives from the likes of Nike, EPSN, the NBA, MLB and several dominant female athletes. The short write-up on Stephanie focused on her success in the WWE business world and rise through the ranks, but did not mention her role as an on-screen character.

Ronda Rousey was also named in the same list, shining a spotlight on her film roles and business partnerships, but did mention last year’s loss to Holly Holm, stating Rousey’s “comeback fight will be one of the most anticipated, and profitable, in UFC history.”

This Weekend’s Wrestling Birthdays

Lots of birthdays this weekend. For July 2nd you’ve got Scotty 2 Hotty, referee Charles Robinson, WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart and Amy Weber, who had a quick cup of coffee on Smackdown. July 3rd has Punjabi wrestler Harbhajan Singh, who was in TNA’s Ring Ka King promotion, Johnny Swinger, 90s WWF jobber Nick Barbieri, and Vladimir Kozlov.

Xavier Woods & Simon Gotch Get Ribera Jackets

WWE is currently in Japan, which means a new round of wrestlers headed to the famous combat sports-themed Ribera Steakhouse. The restaurant has been a destination stop for American wrestlers in Japan for decades, and being given one of their signature Ribera satin jackets is somewhat of a right of passage. This year The New Day and Chris Jericho stopped in and Xavier Woods was give his first jacket, as was Simon Gotch.
