On why NXT Takeover is being called “The End”:

HHH: It has a lot of meanings. I think you’ll see that tomorrow as well. When Samoa Joe and Finn Balor step in to the ring for the first time in NXT history inside of a steel cage I think you can expect it to be the end.

On whose idea it was to do the steel cage match between Samoa Joe and Finn Balor:

HHH: I went to them, sort of, with the concept. You start these things with hopes that they will go to a particular place. Our business is fluid. It changes all the time. That’s part of what’s great about it and that’s part of what’s difficult about it. You start something and you expect it to go a certain way and then you see how it plays out. Then you say, “I thought it was going to go this way and instead…” So you just start making that move. It felt right. It felt like it was the right rivalry. It felt like it was the right moment in time. Their rivalry had been going on a long time. Taking various turns and twists but getting them to where they are right now. It felt like it needed closure. It felt like it needed “The End” and it felt like it needed to be definitive. It felt like the right time to be put inside of a steel cage. We don’t use a lot of those things in NXT. We don’t use them a lot. We’re very judicious and this is one of those cases where I thought it was the right place, time and thing. It just felt right. A lot of this is based on that collectively as a group this is something I want to see. This is something I want to see. Just sitting in the seats as a fan, what would I want to see from them? This is where I would want to see it go. I’m very excited for that opportunity tomorrow to see that. To see where this ends. As I am with a lot of the matches on the card tomorrow. To me Asuka vs Nia Jax is going to be a very exciting match. Stylistically there is this buzzsaw in Asuka against this massive destroyer that is Nia Jax. Just the improvement that she’s made from however long ago when she was in the ring with Bayley and was very, very green. Her first high profile thing. To me she’s different, she’s more comfortable and a more polished performer than before. That’s going to be a very exciting match as well.

Some of the other topics discussed on the media call include:

  • Updates on the Cruiserweight Classic
  • NXT’s role in the upcoming WWE Draft
  • Eric Young & Bobby Roode’s current NXT status’
  • NXT’s focus on the Canadian and UK markets
  • A potential Women’s Tournament much like the Cruiserweight Classic
  • Whether or not Brock Lesnar’s UFC 200 appearance opens the door for more UFC fighters to train and perform in NXT and the WWE Performance Center
  • What WWE Hall of Famers or Legends he’d like to see working with talent in WWE developmental
  • More…

Triple H ends the call by talking about the passing of Muhammad Ali.
