According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE had originally planned for Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar to challenge Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the WWE Roadblock live Network special.
The finish of the match would have seen Triple H pinning Ambrose, but for whatever reason the match was changed to a singles title defense for HHH, with Lesnar facing Bray Wyatt instead. It’s said that there are plans for Ambrose to get over as a “never say die” babyface who will keep making a comeback, since Ambrose will always likely get a reaction, and there’s a feeling the crowd will rally around him even more. As of right now, there are no plans for Ambrose to turn heel, but if he did it would make sense to feud with Reigns as champion given they have a history together.
