Earlier today, AAA announced that Luis Ignacio Urive Alvirde, fka the original Sin Cara in WWE, and Myzteziz in AAA, will be leaving the AAA promotion and is slated to return to CMLL.
Alvirde was in the news this week as he unexpectedly appeared at CMLL’s Arena Mexico show last Friday night. After the event, Alvirde told people he wanted to fulfill his obligations to AAA before returning to CMLL, but that will not be happening per the announcement below.
Because he is leaving AAA, Alvirde will no longer be able to use the Myzteziz name, but he will go back to using the name which made him famous in Mexico, Mistico. The Mistico name had been given to another wrestler when Alvirde signed with WWE, but Alvirde will resume using the name.
Alvirde’s AAA departure might also affect Lucha Underground, as Alvirde’s brothers, Argenis and Argos, will also be leaving AAA. Argenis is a title holder in Lucha Underground with The Disciples of Death.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, one of the factors which contributed to Alvirde’s decision to leave AAA is backstage heat with Alberto Del Rio. The two recently went back-and-forth on Twitter, with Del Rio at one point event threatening to beat up Alvirde.
Del Rio and Alvirde are no strangers to backstage heat with each other, as back in July of 2012, Alvirde, wrestling then as Sin Cara, had a match against Del Rio in WWE, and when Cara dislocated his finger quickly into the match, he called for the ref to stop the match.

Following the match, Cara was the subject of more locker room heat with the talent than anyone else on the roster, and WZ was told Cara gets very moody when he’s booked to lose, which might contribute unfocused ring work. Cara also had heat with talents, including Del Rio, as they felt any other wrestler would have worked through the injury and finished the match.
