As we have been reporting, Ethan Carter III defeated Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle to become the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion on last night’s Impact Wrestling, ending Angle’s reign at 145 days.
Not only does this mark EC3’s first title win of any kind in TNA, but also his first title win in any major promotion.
EC3 was not the only TNA Superstar to win gold last night. Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards defeated Bobby Roode and Austin Aries in the final match of their grueling Best-of-Five series that has been stealing shows for the last few months. The final encounter took place in a 30-minute Ironman match for the vacant TNA tag titles, and with the score tied up with only one minute remaining, The Wolves went ahead to win the belts.
