According to a write-up from What Culture, WWE 2K16 will heavily feature WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin in one the core story modes. Their info comes straight from an interview with Jerry “The King” Lawler talking about the game.
Their report indicates that both King and Jim Ross have been working in-studio doing commentary for the game mode, which will likely be similar to the Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels, and CM Punk vs. John Cena 2K Showcase modes included in last year’s next-generation console releases. This sort of begs a few questions – who will Austin’s chief rival for the game be, if at all, and who will make up the other rivalries for the series’ most popular returning mode.
Austin had been indicating on Twitter and in his recent podcasts that he had several big announcements to make, but that he couldn’t let the proverbial cat out of the bag just yet. The first was most likely his return to the WWE Network for a major series of monthly podcasts with some of the biggest guests ever, and it’s possible his including in WWE 2K16 was another. We will keep you posted with more information when it becomes available.
