What If GFW Held A Draft
CSRWrestling.com now has daily blogs which will feature Vince Russo and more. The debut blog is from Shane Shoemaker discussing what if Global Force Wrestling did a draft to announce their roster? Here’s an excerpt:
At one point in time the WWE tried their version of a draft concept when their roster was split into two brands. But later on the concept felt outdone and lacked any real excitement when a lack of creating new superstars and over thought booking (splitting the Dudley Boyz for example) stifled it.
But now, there’s a new promotion on the horizon, a promotion that doesn’t have a roster (officially) announced yet. In case you are wondering, it’s Jeff Jarrett’s new promotion, Global Force Wrestling.
In August of 2014, Jarrett announced that GFW had reached working agreements with several major promotions across the globe, that included the likes of Mexico’s AAA and Japan’s New Japan Pro Wrestling. Jarrett has also indicated that there could be a future partnership with Ring of Honor as well.
So, with this plethora of talent spread across the globe at Jarrett’s disposal, my question would be not only what are you going to do with it, but how are you going to introduce it?
What better way than with a selection show, or draft, if you will. If I’m Jarrett, why not go a month before the tv tapings are scheduled and air an hour long selection show on the GFW website showcasing the talent that will make up your roster.
