New Japan World Update
As we reported over the weekend, New Japan World crashed for the first time since it launched during the annual Invasion Attack event, leaving us unable to offer live coverage of the show. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the website went down because of an external hack, and officials weren’t able to fix the problem quickly. The issue was finally resolved by the end of the show, which was then available in its entirety on-demand.
The main event was an incredible match between AJ Style and Kota Ibushi for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, and was a major contributor to New Japan legitimately selling out the Sumo Hall, something only the G1 Climax finals has done since 2005. Ibushi is a proving himself as a big draw for a younger talent, in particular because he brings in a young, female audience.
