Moments ago, we reported that WWE will hold the next NXT Takeover live special on February 11th from Full Sail University. Our own Bill Pritchard is on hand at tonight’s television taping and will be sending in a complete spoiler report later tonight.
We can now confirm that the main event for the 2/11 NXT Takeover event will be Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens for the NXT Championship.
Sasha Banks will also get her rematch against Charlotte for the NXT Women’s Championship, along with Bayley and Becky Lynch in the first 4-way Divas match in NXT history.
In perhaps the biggest news coming out of tonight’s television taping, Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy defeated the Lucha Dragons to become the brand new NXT Tag Team Champions. It is expected that the rematch will take place at NXT Takeover.
A tournament to crown a new #1 contender to the NXT Championship was also announced. The Superstars in contention are former champion Adrian Neville, Finn Balor, Curtis Axel, Tyson Kidd, Hideo Itami, Tyler Breeze, Baron Corbin and Bull Dempsey. The preliminary matches will play out over the next three weeks, and it’s assumed that the finals of the tournament – a match between Adrian Neville and Finn Balor – will take place at NXT Takeover.
