Justin Roberts Release
Former WWE ring announcer Justin Roberts was released on Monday night following RAW, and WWE made the announcement less than an hour after the show had concluded.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is stating there are conflicting stories as to why Roberts was ultimately let go, which John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield said had nothing to do with an argument with Michael Cole at ringside.
One report states Roberts originally told people close to him that it was a business decision to leave the company since he and WWE couldn’t agree on money in a new deal. The other report states Roberts then later said he was told by management that WWE wanted to go in a new direction with the ring announcing roles.
Following Roberts’ release, it was reported than Eden Stiles is most likely to take over the role, with JoJo (Total Divas, NXT) also getting mentioned, and Lilian Garcia will most likely stay put as the Smackdown announcer.
