Gold Rush Tournament Finals
Abyss vs Ken Anderson vs MVP
vs Tajiri vs Austin Aries
Abyss and Anderson trade punches before Tajiri tags himself in, then he gets a near fall on Anderson before Aries tags in and dropkicks Tajiri. Aries picks him up but Tajiri kicks him and hits a back handspring elbow, then we get back from a break to see Anderson knock Aries on the mat. Anderson goes for a rolling senton, but Aries counters with a Russian legsweep before Abyss grabs him by the throat. MVP argues with some fans as Abyss calls for a chokeslam, then Aries hits him with some discus forearms before Aries tags MVP back in. MVP runs in and Abyss hits some clotheslines, then Tajiri tags in and avoids a chokeslam, and sprays mist in Abyss’ eyes behind the ref’s back.
Anderson gets involved and Tajiri puts him in the Tarantula, then Anderson comes back with a top rope rolling senton as MVP tags himself in. Anderson doesn’t realize it and the ref tells him, then Anderson turns into a Drive By but Aries breaks it up. MVP suplexes him and calls for a clothesline, but Aries pulls the ropes down and sends him outside. Aries follows with a suicide dive into the barricade, also taking Abyss out, and Aries heads up top and hits a missile dropkick. He goes for an IED but MVP kicks him in the head, then MVP goes for a Drive By but Aries ducks and rolls him up for the win.
Winner – Austin Aries
BP: I usually hate multiman matches, but this one was actually pretty good. They paced the match and worked in a few good spots, and Aries winning made the most sense. Overall, this show was good, eventhough it wasn’t as ‘high profile’ as the past few weeks. It featured mostly in-ring action, entirely devoted to the tournament, and was a solid all around show.
