Update on Kenta’s NXT Takeover Role
While Kenta has been confirmed for this week’s NXT Takeover 2 live special on the WWE Network, F4WOnline.com has clarified that he will not be wrestling any sort of match on the show. He is expected to have his first NXT match at the television tapings that are happening the next night. As we reported last week, there has been some discussion of having Kenta rushed into the NXT title picture upon his arrival, and his appearance at Takeover 2 could be to set up some sort of program going forward.
KILLAM: Friday’s TV taping should be a pretty news-worthy event. It’s looking like WWE wants to push Kenta hard right out of the gate, but they also have Kevin Steen signed and in the area, ready to go, as well as Fergal Devitt. Both guys have been promoted by WWE online, and while they could certainly wait for the October taping, it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on that event.
Who Could Have Inducted Trish?
In a recently interview with Slam Wrestling, women’s wrestling legend Trish Stratus mentioned a few other names that were in the running to induct her into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013. Stephanie McMahon inducted her the night before WrestleMania 29, however Stratus said that former WWE and TNA wrestler Bully Ray (aka Bubba Ray Dudley) was in the running.
“I think fans would be surprised to know that Bubba Ray Dudley was on the list. He’s on it because he was kind of giving me tough love when I first came in. But once I proved myself to him, he really opened up and was really kind and giving and would advise me on a lot of things. So when we finally worked together, once he saw that I was willing to take the table and I used to tell him: ‘Don’t protect me, don’t go easy on me, I just want to do it and do it good and make the fans proud,’ and he appreciated that. So we’ve became really close friends and we had a great relationship and he really helped me a lot.”
Trish and Lita will both be a part of the Montreal Comic Con this Friday through Sunday.
