Report by Bill Pritchard for Wrestlezone.com
Kurt Angle cuts a promo about the night’s events when MVP, King and Lashley cut him off, and MVP says Kurt isn’t fair and he just panders to the scumbags here. MVP runs the crowd down and says Lashley is the real king of New York, then Tommy Dreamer comes out and says Lashley is better than this. He mocks King and MVP before telling Lashley to stop this, then King hits Dreamer from behind and throws him out of the ring. MVP yells at Kurt in the balcony, but Dreamer pulls King outside and hits him before threatening MVP with a kendo stick. MVP begs him off but Kurt says he has an idea, and Dreamer will face Lashley tonight and see who the real King of New York is. MVP says fine, then Dreamer goes after him again but Lashley clubs him from behind as the bell rings.
Tommy Dreamer vs Bobby Lashley
We get back from a break to see Dreamer hit Lashley with a kendo stick, then Lashley slams him on the end of the ramp and crotches him on the barricade. Lashley punches him and sends him inside, then King tries to hold Dreamer on the apron, but Dreamer hits him and takes Lashley down. He goes for a kendo stick shot off the ropes but Lashley avoids it, then he drops Dreamer with a spear for the win.
Winner – Lashley
BP: Good setup, but I don’t think anyone expected Dreamer to win here. Lashley is too hot right now, and eventhough Dreamer brought a good fight, they made the right move with King interfering and Lashley winning. Yes, I said interference was good, but only because Lashley is still picking wins on his own too. He’s not a weak champion at all.
#1 Contender’s Match (Knockouts Championship)
Madison Rayne vs Taryn Terrell
Taryn and Madison trade shots before Madison whips Taryn out of the ring, and Taryn lands hard so Madison checks on her before rolling her in. She gets a near fall before Taryn kicks her and hits the ropes, then Madison knees her and sends her to the corner. Taryn comes back with a clothesline off the turnbuckles and a neckbreaker, then she heads up top and hits a crossbody for a near fall. Taryn goes for a corner splash but Madison kicks her and uses the ropes for leverage during a pin, but the ref catches her and tries to argue it. Madison yells at the ref before charging at Taryn, but she gets caught with a diving cutter and Taryn makes the cover.
Winner – Taryn Terrell
