At this time, the only confirmed match for WWE Night of Champions in September is John Cena challenging Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. There will likely be some sort of additional stipulation attached to the match.
After this week’s WWE Raw on Monday night, and the Main Event and Smackdown taping event in Phoenix, AZ tonight, the following matches are being built up for a possible spot on the Night of Champions card.
- AJ Lee vs. Paige in a rematch for the Divas Championship.
- Sheamus vs. Cesaro for the United States Championship.
- Brie Bella vs. Nikki Bella
- Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt in a rematch with a hardcore stipulation attached.
- Rusev vs. Mark Henry
- Jack Swagger vs. Bo Dallas
- Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns in a rematch with a hardcore stipulation attached.
- Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose with a hardcore stipulation attached.
KILLAM: With the WWE title match that would be 9 in total, so it’s probable at least one of these programs will be relegated to the pre-show, or kept off the PPV altogether. That’s not accounting for anything Dolph Ziggler might do with the Intercontinental Championship. Swagger and Bo might end up just being a TV rivalry, as it doesn’t really have the marquee for PPV. The Rhodes Brothers are also getting a lot of attention with wins on Raw and Smackdown, so they might be next in line for a title shot. Overall I’d say that looks like a good card, expanding on a very, very good SummerSlam PPV with the obligatory rematches under hardcore rules.
