Ronda Rousey at WWE SummerSlam
UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey is in attendance at tonight’s WWE SummerSlam PPV. Hall of Famer Ric Flair mentioned Rousey during the pre-show, as did Booker T.
KILLAM: This is well-known by this point, but Rousey is a huge WWE fan, and her group of MMA girls is called the Four Horsewomen. She has expressed interest in a pro wrestling career after, or during her time in MMA, but obviously won’t be working for WWE while still under contract with UFC. Of course, if they could work out some sort of deal that might open the door for Brock Lesnar to do the same thing.
Hart Member Predicts WWE SummerSlam
Smith Hart has posted his predictions for WWE SummerSlam over at PWMania.com. He runs down each of the eight announced matches, minus the pre-show bout that was recently made official. He also talked briefly about some of his favorite moments in SummerSlam PPV history, including Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart, Davey Boy Smith, Mr. Perfect and Undertaker.
Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose:
Seeing as WWE, cut short the first match between these two, I do expect more emphasis on this match Sunday. This highly anticipated showdown has been significantly watered-down with the Lumberjack stipulation, yet despite that I still expect a show-stealer. I expect Seth Rollins to win by some sort of nefarious means and continue the feud indefinitely. In fact I expect these two men’s careers to rival one another for years to come.
AJ Lee vs. Paige:
This feud has really been nothing. The frienemies angle may have had some value if the two had built a tag team and worked together for a period prior to feuding. Since they had no built in prior relationship, this program seems completely hot-shotted with no emotional investment whatsoever. All I can hope is the match surpasses the build. My prediction is AJ wins handily.
