AAA Not Taking Any Chances with Mysterio, Del Rio Update
As we reported yesterday, Alberto Del Rio will not be wrestling at the TripleMania XXII event on Sunday in Mexico due to his no-compete clause with WWE.
We also noted Del Rio was potentially found in breach of contract likely due to the backstage altercation which lead to his release.
As a result of Del Rio’s contract breach, WWE was able to lock him into a 10 to 11 month no-compete clause, which means he will not be able to wrestle in the United States for nearly a year.
The 10-11 month no-compete does not apply to Mexico, however, so he will likely be free to wrestle there after the standard 90-day no-compete expires.
With regards to Rey Mysterio, it’s being said AAA is not taking any chances with him as they do not want to tamper with his WWE contract and find themselves potentially facing a lawsuit from WWE.
Update on WWE TV Double Tapings
As we previously reported, WWE has been discussing the ideas of holding supershows to tape both Raw and Smackdown in one night in order to cut costs, and it should be noted if WWE does go ahead with this idea it will not be something done on a weekly basis, but rather sporadically.
