Backstage News on Why TNA is Moving to Wednesday Nights

dean ambroseAccording to F4WOnline.com, the Impact Wrestling move to Wednesdays is permanent, and the decision to move the show was finalized a couple days ago.

Smackdown moving to Thursday nights was definitely one of the reasons why TNA decided to make the move, along with NFL games airing on CBS on Thursday nights, which have always been stiff competition for TNA.

Dean Ambrose to Star in New WWE Studios Movie

Back in May, we reported that WWE Studios and Lionsgate teamed up for a “six-pack” of films, the first of which is the upcoming movie “Vendetta,” starring Big Show.

Variety is now reporting Dean Ambrose will be starring in one of the WWE and Lionsgate produced movies, and it will be titled “Lockdown.”

Ambrose will star in the film, to be directed by Tomb Raider: Ascension’s Stephen Reynolds, and production begins this month. No word yet on how this will impact Ambrose’s WWE schedule, but it will likely keep him off the road for a similar amount of time Big Show was gone.

“Lockdown” was written by Nathan Brooks and Bobby Lee Darby, who penned “See No Evil 2” and it follows a police officer who finds himself trapped inside his own precinct. He is being hunted by crooked cops who will stop at nothing to recover incriminating evidence of illegal activities against those closest to him.

“Lockdown will continue to energize and excite with the high level of adrenaline our fans have come to expect from our films,” said WWE Studios president Michael Luisi.

Paglino: I know there are some people out there who like the WWE Studios movies, and maybe one day I will meet all 7 of them, but in my opinion it makes no sense to pull a hot commodity like Ambrose off WWE TV for a Studios project.

These B movies work for guys like Kane, Big Show and others, who need a break from WWE TV, but I’d rather see Ambrose on Raw every week and continue to build his already solid momentum. There has to be more money in Ambrose on TV than in a WWE Studios movie.
