NXT Championship Match

ADRIAN NEVILLE (c) vs. Tyler Breeze

A very back-and-forth affair at the start, with neither really gaining a distinct advantage. After a few minutes Breeze ends up dumping the champion to the outside and taking a breather. Tyson Kidd comes out dressed to compete, and stands on the announce table to watch the match, as they go to commercial. After the break, Neville comes back and gets a huge kick to Breeze. He goes to the top rope and sets up for the Red Arrow, but Breeze gets back up and kicks him down. They battle up to the top turnbuckle and battle over suplexes, but Neville ends up hitting a huge sunset flip powerbomb for a two-count. He goes for the Red Arrow again, but Breeze rolls across the ring to safety. The champ runs into boots in the corner, and a wicked tilt-the-whirl DDT off the second rope that sends Neville head-over-heels, literally. Awesome spot. A “this is awesome” chant breaks out as both guys are down. Breeze sets up for a splash in the corner, but Neville fights back with elbows. They brawl around the ring with hard shots, and the champ floats out of a suplex and hits a German suplex bridge for a nearfall. Tyler escapes to the outside and Neville flies through the ropes, taking them both down. Tyson Kidd makes his way down the ramp to ringside, and Neville doesn’t think twice about superkicking his lights out. The crowd chants “YES!” as the two competitors brawl back into the ring. Neville hits a side kick, the sets up for the Red Arrow a third time, but Kidd is back to attack him, forcing the DQ finish.

Result: Adrian Neville retains via DQ

-Kidd continues to attack the champion until Breeze hits the ring and makes the save, to a huge pop from the crowd. The brawl back and forth for a while until Neville comes back and we get a crazy three-way brawl. The heels now get on the same page and attack the champion, until Sami Zayn comes out to a huge pop and cleans house. Zayn stands over Neville and the crowd goes crazy with “Ole!” chants as the heels lay on the ramp. Zayn holds the NXT Championship, then gives it to Neville to end the show.

KILLAM: That match was really freaking good. All together one of the best – if not the best – non-special edition episode of NXT since arriving on the WWE Network in February. I’m not disappointed about the DQ finish because the match itself was very good, and all the post-match stuff was really well executed. THe crowd was into it the whole time, which is the sign of a really well put together finish. The obligatory 4-way match at Takeover 2 should be stellar.
