As it is each and every Sunday morning here on WZ, the following is a recap of our biggest news stories from the past week.
I'll be throwing a few questions in the Disqus section below as well, to discuss some of the more interesting happenings in the world of wrestling last week.
WWE News
- Perhaps the biggest news of the week, WWE Diva Emma got fired for shoplifting from Walmart – she claims it was an accident – and then they brought her back IN THE SAME DAY.
- Brock Lesnar is due back in WWE in the near future, and will be working at least TWO PPV events in 2014. The WWE title may be in his immediate future, and a match with Roman Reigns is on the table.
- WWE is already looking towards the 2015 Royal Rumble PPV, and it may involve all three of the former Shield members in a major way.
- Cesaro is expected to continue getting a big push in the coming months, alongside Paul Heyman, and is the favorite to win the Intercontinental Championship at Battleground later this month.
- Bad News Barrett underwent surgery this week, and will be out for several months. They stripped him of the title and set a battle royal for Battleground later this month to crown a new champion.
- The top four SummerSlam matches that are more or less set in stone include Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt, John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar, and two others.
- Expect more budget cuts in WWE soon, as Vince McMahon is calling for heads again. The talent is apparently afraid for their jobs. Well…some of the talent. I imagine John Cena is probably confident in his employment talent, as is Triple H.
- Lots of major returns on Monday Night Raw this week. Chris Jericho came back to interrupt The Miz having his return. AJ Lee returned and won the Divas Championship in the same night. Hit that reset button!
TNA News
- Devon, Homicide and Rhino will all be regulars on TNA television through this year's Bound for Glory PPV. Devon will be part of Team 3D, TNA's big Hall of Fame inductees this year.
- Sanada will remain with TNA going forward, despite early plans calling for him to return to Japan soon. There is talk of a joint contract between TNA and Wrestle-1 that would see him used as a major name in both companies.
- The annual Bound for Glory Series will most likely not be happening this year.
- The TNA Television Championship doesn't exist anymore. So…that's almost news.
Misc. News
- TNA star, Hall of Famer and current general manager Kurt Angle was caught in pictures on a plane with WWE creative writers and other employees. He appeared to be passed out, and his condition at the time was a topic of discussion backstage at Tuesday's Smackdown taping.
- Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's annual Battle of Los Angeles tournament is incredibly loaded up this year, featuring AJ Styles, Evan Bourne, Johnny Gargano, Michael Elgin, Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly and a ton of other excellent talents.
- Booker T's wrestling school and indie promotion will be having their first iPPV soon, bringing in a few of the recently released WWE names like Teddy Long.
