Positive WrestleMania Crowd Report from New Orleans
Thanks to Shane Kellow for sending in the following:
This pertains to the crowd issues at the Superdome, not the Silverdome, and a little bit more of a positive story. I was a part of the "mob" of people trying to get in before the show started. We waited outside for a good 30 minutes with minimal line movement. It seemed as if a good amount of people were dead set on filing into one set of main doors right under the Superdome logo the same doors that were used for the outside live shot of the Superdome at night. As people were waiting in line there were constant announcements over the loud speaker that there was no wait on the other side of the building. After waiting for another 15 mins or so we decided to take them up on their offer to migrate. Thinking we had to actually walked to the other side we started our trek. That being said "the other side of the building" with no wait was literally maybe 20 yards away from the main doors. I walked right in with no wait so some of it was just people not listening.
I sat in section 141 and there were ushers at the curtain to confirm your section and seats but only if you asked them to show you to them. They didn't volunteer or have someone at the top to take you there but if asked they would help.
Some of the merch stands however were poorly staffed and put together with things scattered everywhere and no lighting to shine on them to find sizes of shirts. Customers started shining their cell phone flashlights on the boxes of clothes to help them speed up the process. They were not all like that you just had to find the right one. This was my first Mania so it wasn't the worst experience ever (other than The Undertaker losing) but when you have 75,000 rabid wrestling fans in one building, crazy things are bound to happen.
