WWE.com has a really in-depth piece up looking at all of the rookies that broke onto the scene in 2013, including members of The Shield, the Wyatt Family, current Intercontinental Champion Big E Langston, Curtis Axel and Fandango. The interactive article charts each Superstar or group's progress since arriving in WWE, including videos of significant moments. Here are a few noteworthy points:
The Shield: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match against Team Hell No and Ryback. Defeating The Undertaker. Becoming Tag Team and United States Champions.
The Wyatt Family: Defeating Kane in a PPV debut. Feuding with CM Punk and Daniel Bryan.
Big E Langston: Debuting with an attack on John Cena. Defeating Daniel Bryan in his in-ring debut. Turning babyface and alligning with CM Punk against Team Heyman.
The Shield was named the official 2013 Rookies of the Year by WWE.com, which was backed up by them winning 48% of the popular vote, with almost 60,000 votes tallied as of this posting. While several readers have sent in word reporting this as a spoiler for next Monday's "Breakout Star of the Year" Slammy award, there is no indication that they two awards are the same thing. "Rookie" does not necessarily indicate "breakout star", as current Superstars like Cody Rhodes, Goldust, Antonio Cesaro and others could fit into the later category.
WWE will be announcing the nominees for Breakout Star of the Year this week, with the award given out this coming Monday on Raw.
