TNA star Christopher Daniels was recently interviewed by John Corrigan of Temple-News.com to promote Impact Wrestling at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, PA on December 27th. When the interviewer asked Daniels if he should still buy a ticket to the show, he was optimistic.
“I think we’re going through some growing pains. We’re still trying to find our legs with being on the road. I don’t think there is trouble in the sense of imminent doom.”
It's worth noting that TNA has seemingly cancelled all other Impact Live tapings after November 7th, and the company could very well be back in Orlando, FL far before Christmas, so Corrigan's question was definitely valid.
Daniels also revealed that his contract with TNA Wrestling was up in mid-2014.
“Honestly, I aimed for 20 years as a career goal. Now that I have reached it, I don’t see an end in sight. It’s hard to believe sometimes, but I’ve been fortunate to avoid big injury. I’ve kept myself in good shape and learned how to minimize the damage done from this wacky business. It’s just a matter of still having fun and doing it with a lot of my good friends.”
He also noted some heat between himself and former creative head Vince Russo.
“There was a time when he was pushing really hard for me to do something with Sting, and then somewhere along the way it fell apart and I never got a firm answer on why. In the past couple months, I guess in some interviews that Vince has done, he said that I cared more about wrestling good matches than having a character. I guess that was his reasoning for why I never got over in his eyes. I look at what I’m doing now and he isn’t there, so you tell me, was he right or was I right?”
The former X-Division and Tag Team Champion also spoke on his peers in WWE, working with Samoa Joe and others in Ring of Honor, TNA as an alternative to WWE, and more.
