WWE Live Event Results (9/20): Lexington, KY; Sami Zayn, The Wyatt Family In-Action

Randy OrtonThanks to Brandon Howard for sending in the following:

Damien Sandow vs. Zack Ryder

Sandow draws heat by not wanting to sing 'My Old Kentucky Home' in Lexington and instead, singing the song in Louisville, where the song's much more appreciated. He also ended up mentioning the Louisville Cardinals basketball team and their recent national title. During the match he even starts a 'Rick Pitino clap clap clap clap clap' chant. Pitino's the head coach of Louisville and former coach of the University of Kentucky basketball team, which plays in Rupp Arena. Great back and forth match which saw Ryder beat Sandow clean with the Rough Ryder for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Zack Ryder

The Funkadactyls vs. AJ Lee and Layla.

Per fan vote, it was a dance contest to start out. Layla danced, AJ Lee said she was too good to shake her butt in Lexington, and the Funkadactyls danced and won the competition, only to be attacked by AJ and Layla, which prompts a tag match. Funkadactlys end up with the win in a solid Diva's match.

Winners: Funkadactyls

Jack Swagger vs. Sami Zayn

I've heard a lot about Zayn and his work in the ring. Zayn had some high spots in the bout and worked well with Swagger. Very good overall, with Swagger dominating most of the match, and Zayn ended up catching Swags with a roll-up for the three count. Then Swagger said after the treatment he received in Lexington, he's never coming back, drawing cheers from the crowd.

Winner: Sami Zayn

Six Man Tag: Kofi Kingston and the Uso's vs The Wyatt Family

Solid reaction for Kofi coming out, same for the Uso's. Wyatt Family comes out and gets a similar reaction. Bray Wyatt starts the match off in the rocking chair, but ends up making his presence felt throughout the match. Great back and forth action with Bray hitting Sister Abigail on Kofi and sneaking in a three count for the victory.

Winners: Wyatt Family

World Heavyweight Title match Alberto Del Rio vs. RVD

RVD comes out to a loud ovation. Match mostly dominated by Del Rio, who asks for A-D-R chants instead of R-V-D chants to no avail. Match ends in a DQ when Del Rio wouldn't break the cross-arm breaker when RVD was in the ropes. After the match, RVD hits Del Rio with some spinning kicks, which prompts Damien Sandow to run in and attempt to CASH IN MONEY IN THE BANK! Sandow hands the ref the briefcase, but RVD hits a kick off the top rope on Sandow before the bell rang, preventing the MITB being cashed in.

Winner by DQ: RVD

Intermission

Next was Ryback vs. Santino Marella

Nothing special here, comedy match dominated by Ryback, with some moderate offense at the end by Santino, only for Ryback to counter the Cobra into a Shell Shock for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Ryback

Intercontinental Title match: Curtis Axel vs. CM Punk

Before the match starts, Axel tells the WWE universe that since he's defended his title in the last 30 days, he can refuse a title match based on a section of the WWE bylaws. 15.2 is the bylaw referenced here I believe. Axel also says the match is no longer a No DQ match due to Axel wanting to wrestling and not use objects like chairs, tables, and kendo sticks. Punk comes out to a huge ovation, and after a great back and forth match, hits Axel with the GTS for the three count.

Winner: CM Punk

MAIN EVENT Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton

The women love Randy Orton. Everyone loves Daniel Bryan, who had the biggest pop by a good margin when he came out. Match was similar to their match at Night of Champions and had the same ending, with Bryan hitting his running knee strike on Orton for the clean victory.

Winner: Daniel Bryan

Biggest Pops: Bryan, Punk, and Kofi Kingston

Loudest boos: Sandow after the Louisville stuff, Randy Orton after he tells a little kid to sit down and nearly gets nose to nose to him, and Curtis Axel.
