Jim Cornette to Release New Book
The following press release has been issued:
NEW BOOK BY JIM CORNETTE AND MARK JAMES TO DEBUT AT CHARLOTTE FANFEST
The new book by Jim Cornette and Mark James, "Rags, Paper and Pins–the Merchandising of Memphis Wrestling", will debut at the Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Legends Fanfest August 1-4 at the Hilton University Place in Charlotte, N.C.
This 350 page book documents the pioneering and innovative ways that Memphis wrestling was merchandised to the fans in the era before action figures, toys and home video, and is told from an insider perspective. It is lavishly illustrated with photos, programs and ephemera from 1950 to the mid 1980's, and includes a detailed rundown of Memphis drawing cards and arena business, as well as an extensive section on Memphis wrestlers' ventures into the world of records.
It will be part of Jim Cornette's only wrestling-related appearance of 2013, as he will man his Cornette's Collectibles booth in tandem with Mark James' Memphis Wrestling History booth, where the authors will not only be signing copies of the new book, but offering their complete line of books and DVD's as well as vintage wrestling memorabilia.
On Thursday night, Cornette will also appear in a one-man show/Q&A titled "Unplugged and Uncensored", and Friday night at the Fanfest banquet he will be inducted into the Hall of Heroes along with the Midnight Express and the Rock & Roll Express, among others.
All attendees at Fanfest as well as any wrestling fans in the Carolinas will get the first look at this fascinating new book the weekend of August 1-4, but for those who can't be there in person, it will be available online after August 5th.
