Former WWE and current Ring of Honor star Charlie Haas apparently retired before his match with Jeff Louis Neal at the ROH show yesterday in Asheville, NC.
According to ProWrestling.net, Haas cut a long, strange, and sometimes rambling promo about his history in wrestling, then he wrestled his scheduled bout, and would not leave the ring after. He continued his promo, despite ROH officials waving him to exit the ring, and not giving him a mic. He yelled the promo into the crowd, calling out officials like Delirious, ROH's head booker, and announcer Kevin Kelly, calling him a "fat piece of shit."
Haas was reportedly shaken up during the match and after, and was visibly crying during the bout and during his pre and post-match promos. The report notes that he appeared to be intoxicated, and was spotted having words with Kevin Kelly and Delirious prior to the event, which might explain why he referenced them in his promos. Haas later Tweeted the following:
Officially retired. No match against @sheltyb803 nxt week NYC. Time to be a full time dad and husband.I've turned my spandex in for scrubs
