(2) X-Division Championship Match
Rob Van Dam (c) vs. Kenny King
Kenny King and RVD adhere to the Code of Honor, and this title match is on! The two lock up and Van Dam gets the better of it with a side headlock. King escapes the hold and Van Dam rolls him up for a quick two-count. They lock up again, and RVD goes back to the headlock. King escapes yet again, and off the ropes gets a pinning combination for his own two-count.
The two both rebound off the ropes several times, leapfrogging over the other and showing off. King catches RVD’s gut kick, but he turns it into the float-over back kick. King doesn’t take this well, and does the exact same thing to RVD! Van Dam leaves the ring to clear his head, and the two are starring each other down on an even playing field.
The Champion rolls back into the ring and the two lock up, with Van Dam taking King down to the mat. He goes up to the top rope, but King leaps up from ring and plants him with a huge kick to the side of the head! The crowd chants “holy shit!” as Van Dam goes flying into the barricade. King gets ahold of a camera and yells “did you just see that” as the announce team puts over his incredible athleticism.
King goes to the outside and rolls the Champion back into the ring, but can’t get the pin. They trade right hands, before trading pinning combinations. Neither man can get the win, and they start trading striking combinations with some big kicks. The crowd chants “this is awesome” as they go back to trading right hand after right hand. King ducks under a big hand and hits Van Dam with a sidewalk slam. He goes off the springboard for a splash, but the Champion gets his knees up!
Kenny King backs up into the corner, still holding his gut, and Van Dam hits him with the signature monkey flip. Rolling Thunder connects and Van Dam goes high rent, looking for the Frog Splash. Kenny King kips up and leaps to the top rope, only to get thrown back down by the Champ. He lands on his feet, but eats a side kick from Van Dam off the top rope. Van Dam does his signature pose and heads up top for the Five Star, but King rolls out of the way! King tries for the Royal Flush (Fireman’s Carry cutter), but Van Dam rolls him up with the body scissors and gets the pin.
Winner and still champion: Rob Van Dam
