The Main Event
Throughout the night, we saw Sheamus awaiting The Big Show. As the show progressed, Sheamus was told by Booker T that he should not get into with Show, and save it for Survivor Series. As Sheamus cut a promo in the night, he looked upset and really dialed in the intensity with his words. This is something that was much needed for Sheamus, and he made it feel personal. This may have been the most personal Sheamus has been in his entire career.
Big Show defeated The Great Khali in a very boring match. It is nice to see Khali back because of what serious surgery he had, but he still is a liability in the ring. Big Show basically chops him down and hits a WMD. After the match, Big Show is stopped by Matt Striker. He tries to get into his bus, but is attacked by Sheamus. Sheamus goes hard after show and continues to impress me with his ability to take down the large monster. This was clever, intense, and felt very attitude era to me. Sheamus and Big Show get separated by security and Booker T. This ends Smackdown, and I really enjoyed it. I wish there was a stipulation to make the match a little more interesting, but I do give props to both guys for making it feel really personal in only three weeks. Well done, writers. Grade: B+
