Daniel Bryan defeat. William Regal via Submission
Show opened with Daniel Bryan who got an average pop. More of a reaction for William Regal and multiple people around me commented how they didn’t think he was still in the WWE. A great opener, in fact the best opening match I’ve seen at a live show. It was very technical, but William Regal worked the crowd and was very, very entertaining. Daniel Bryan won via submission and more people seemed interested in the blue briefcase then DB himself.
Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd defeat. Johnny Curtis and Jinder Mahal
Great crowd reaction for Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd, they put on a great match again Curtis and Mahal. Johnny Curtis actually worked the crowd pretty well and was quite funny at times in a heel kinda way. Overall it was a decent match with Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd getting the win.
Brodus Clay defeat. Trent Baretta
Trent Baretta was actually pretty over with the crowd, a lot of people seem to dig this match and throughout the whole match everyone kept shouting Zack Ryder’s catchphrase of Woo Woo Woo….. A bit of a mis-match, Brodus Clay won, good send off for Baretta as he left the ring.
Cody Rhodes defeat. Ted DiBiase and Wade Barrett in an IC title match Triple Threat
A very entertaining match, one of the best all night. Ted DiBiase was so over with the crowd and actually got one of the biggest pops of the whole night. Cody Rhodes was also a crowd favourite, and Wade Barrett didn’t do too bad himself. It was a good match, back and fourth, lots of action outside the ring. Cody Rhodes obviously picked up the win, with a quick roll up after Wade hit Wasteland on DiBiase.
Alicia Fox and AJ defeat. Natalya and Tamina
Aksana came out as a referee for this match. Natalya got quite a good reaction until fans clicked on she was playing the ‘bad guy’ and started to boo her slightly. No major reactions for Alicia, but AJ was pretty popular. A decent match, with AJ and Alicia Fox winning.
Hunico defeat. Yoshi Tatsu
Hunico came out as Sin Cara and everyone went crazy until he pulled the mask off and it was Hunico. Hunico worked the crowd with a little mic work and got some decent heat. Yoshi then came out to one of the biggest cheers all night, but I personally feel that everyone was just loving the theme music. An okay match, Hunico wins.
Randy Orton and Big Show defeat. Christian and Mark Henry
Christian was out first with a fantastic reaction, a lot of Christian fans in the arena. Mark Henry also got a nice welcome. Big Show then came out to easily the biggest pop of the night, followed by Randy Orton.
Match took awhile to get going as the guys worked the crowd really well and were pretty funny to watch. Match itself was a fun main event and Big Show and Randy Orton won with a chokeslam and RKO.
All in all, it’s the first Smackdown event I’ve been to and it was very entertaining show, better than expected.
