FCW Live Event Results – 7-15-10
FCW Arena – Tampa, FL
The show opens with ring announcer Ashley Valence introducing the Assistant GM, Liviana, who said she had a couple of announcements from FCW President, Steve Keirn. First of she wanted to congratulate Big E. Langston for recorded amazing numbers in a lifting competition at the Hard Nocks South Gym in Tampa. He impressed with a 611lb squat, a 490lb bench and a 755lb deadlift. Liviana also announced that the “One Night Stand” GM for the night is Derrick Bateman.
Bateman announced that his show will feature a “Florida Homeboy Challenge”, a handicap match, an NXT Season 2 Rookies Triple Threat Match, and the main event will be a Florida Tag Team Title Match with the unlikely team of Michael McGillicutty & Kaval taking on the champs.
Match 1: Mixed Tag Team Match – Big E Langston & AJ Lee defeated Conrad
Tanner & Aksana when Langston pinned Tanner
Match 2: Florida Homeboy Challenge – Wes Brisco & Bo Rotundo wrestled to a no-contest when Donny Marlow
& Brodus Clay attacked both of them. Brisco & Rotundo collectively fought off the assault
Match 3: Handicap Match – Jackson Andrews defeated Rhys Ali & Devin Allen when he pinned Allen
Match 4: Non Title Match – Tamina pinned Naomi Night
Match 5: Richie Steamboat won by DQ over Trent Baretta when Caylen Croft
interfered.
One night stand GM Derrick Bateman came to the ring and told Baretta that if he and Croft wanted to wrestle as a team, he’ll give them a tag team match against Richie Steamboat and his partner… Derrick Bateman.
Match 6: Richie Steamboat & Derrick Bateman defeated “The Dudebusters” Trent Baretta & Caylen Croft when Bateman pinned Baretta
FCW Champ Alex Riley came to the ring and introduced Aksana. He started out being nice to Aksana, then he began yelling at her about the things he didn’t like about his appearance on The Aksana Show on FCW TV last week. Things like how bad the catered food was, to the no-show of Tony Bennett, to how ugly he thinks her dog is. Aksana began crying, then Rudy Parker ran down to the ring to come to Aksana’s defense. Parker challenged Riley, but Riley said he’d love to, but after Tuesday night on NXT, he is, again, not medically cleared. When Parker was assisting Aksana out of the ring, Riley hit him in the back of the head with title
belt, then nailed him with “you’re dismissed”.
Match 7: Johnny Curtis pinned Leo Kruger
Match 8: Triple Threat Match – Husky Harris defeated Eli Cottonwood and Percy Watson when he pinned Watson
Match 9: FCW Tag Team Title Match – Michael McGillicutty & Kaval defeated “Los Aviadores”, Hunico & Epico, when Kaval pinned Hunico, to become the new FCW tag team champions
Notes About The Show:
Ashley Valence was the ring announcer for the first half of the show and Jamie Keyes
took over the duty for the second half.
The TV announce tandem was Byron Saxton & Matt Martlaro.
Derrick Bateman did a great job on the mic and in the ring as the evening’s GM. He asked the audience to let Mr. Keirn know they loved having him as GM.
WWE referee Justin King returned to the ring after over six months out due to a multiple
fracture of his left leg. It was good to see him back.
The finish of the main event appeared to have been an unplanned title change as Hunico was late on the timing of the old “Ric Flair 2 and 9 tenths second kickout” and referee Rod Silva had no choice but to drop
the three. The timekeeper wasn’t ready to ring the bell and the look on the faces of Kaval, Hennig, the referee, and even ring announcer Jamie Keyes told the story. Silva shrugged his shoulder to Keyes as she handed him the title belts, repeating quietly “he didn’t get his arm up fast enough”. After the match, McGillicutty posed in the ring communicating their surprise to each other with expressions and body language, then they jumped out of the ring to celebrate with the fans. Congrats to the new tag champs!
Despite a torrential downpour outside, the FCW Arena was sold out for the sixth consecutive show.
11 time NFL Pro Bowl selection and the 2002 AP NFL Defensive Player Of The Year, Derrick Brooks, was in attendance for this event.
FCW talent absent from this event included Abraham Washington, Brett DiBiase (injured), Cable Jones, Drake Brewer (injured), Jacob Novak, Jimmy & Jey Uso, Jinder Mahal, Lucky Cannon, Mason Ryan, Shad
Gaspard, Titus O’Neill, Tyler Reks, Curt Hawkins, and Vance Archer.
Nick was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and lived there until the age of 18, when he decided to pack his flack jacket and move to New York City.
