WrestleZone has exclusively learned that Brock Lesnar’s loss on Saturday night to Cain Velasquez has not deterred Strikeforce from trying to sign former WWE Champion Dave "Batista" Bautista to a one-event contract with options for more fights.
According to a source close to Bautista, the negotiations are "picking up," and even though Lesnar lost the UFC Championship in the 1st round, "Dave is not looking to fight for the championship. He’s looking to fight, in a situation where he can be matched up against someone people would want to see him fight, but a fight that would be respectful to the MMA community."
We will keep you up-to-date as these negotiations come closer to Dave Bautista actually entering a cage for Strikeforce, which we understand may be as early as Spring, 2011.
