WWE broadcaster Jerry “The King” Lawler was recently interviewed by Alex Marvez of Scripps News and spoke on WrestleMania 27 and Michael Cole, among other topics.
On nearly giving up hope on a WrestleMania match, Lawler said, “I had pretty much given up hope. Every single year it just seemed like something else would come up.”
Lawler elaborated, “I’d get pushed to the backburner or it just wasn’t remembered. When 2009 and 2010 came and went with nothing there, I wasn’t really expecting anything just because it was a situation where I thought the age thing was going to play a big factor.”
When it came to Michael Cole using his late mother in recent on-air promos, Lawler said, “it pushed the envelope but nothing derogatory was said, that’s why I was OK with it.”
