It sounds like Cody Rhodes will have another chance to best Roman Reigns — on the silver screen, that is.
Earlier this week, Nexus Point News reported that Cody Rhodes was in talks to play Guile in the upcoming Street Fighter movie adaptation. Rhodes’ name surfaced after it was already confirmed that WWE Superstar Roman Reigns will be playing the role of Akuma in the film.
Deadline is reporting that Rhodes has now officially secured the role, including him in a list of confirmed castings. Guile is one of the most iconic characters in Street Fighter history. He was originally portrayed by Jean-Claude Van Damme in the original live-action Street Fighter movie back in 1994.
Rhodes joins a cast that includes David Dastmalchian as the iconic villain M. Bison, Orville Peck as Vega, Jason Momoa as Blanka, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog. Street Fighter is a series of fighting video games that often center around a global fighting tournament organized by Bison, the leader of the evil organization Shadaloo. In total, the game has sold more than 50 million units worldwide since its launch.
What’s next for Cody Rhodes?
Rhodes’ casting has not been officially announced by the movie studio, and Rhodes has not commented either. Rhodes is confirmed to appear in the reboot of The Naked Gun, which is in theatres on July 18.
Cody Rhodes is the 2025 King of the Ring winner. He earned the crown at WWE Night Of Champions in Saudi Arabia. As of result, he is in line for a match at SummerSlam with WWE Champion John Cena, the man who ended Rhodes’ title reign at WrestleMania 41. Rhodes recently addressed the highly anticipated rematch with Cena. He noted that he hopes those who were disappointed with the WrestleMania result are satisfied with round two.
