AEW Fyter Fest Results:

AEW Fyter Fest kicks off with multiple stars arriving at the building for the matches later on this evening. Back in the arena, Tony Schiavone is in the ring, and he brings out Will Ospreay.

Ospreay admits he failed trying to get Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page on the same page last week because they hate each other. Ospreay says Jon Moxley is the bigger problem, and if they could all get along for one night, they could get the belt back, and then Hangman and Swerve could kill each other.

Will Ospreay says Jon Moxley hates what AEW has become, so he can leave. Ospreay says the only thing that sucks about AEW right now is that Moxley is their World Champion. Will says he’s a man of his word and will help Hangman Page in his attempt to defeat Moxley at All In.

Ospreay says he might need to stop Swerve from getting involved in the match at All In and costing Hangman the title. Ospreay challenges Swerve to a match next week at Summer Blockbuster. He’s interrupted by CRU for some reason, the crowd tells them to shut the f*ck up and I’m pretty sure we’re on the same page right now.

Lio Rush says Ospreay is doing a lot of talking, but Rush says he feels like a point to prove. Rush says the worst thing bout AEW is Ospreay. A match is set between Ospreay and Rush for later on this evening.

It’s time for in-ring action…

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley (w/ Marina Shafir and Wheeler Yuta) vs. Mark Briscoe

  • The finish of the match saw Jon Moxley lock Mark Briscoe in a rear-naked choke until the referee called for the bell.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Grade: B+

The match was exactly what you would expect from Briscoe and Moxley. The winner of the match was never in doubt, which took away from a lot of the close calls that were supposed to be suspenseful. I get them wanting Mox on this show, but perhaps they should have booked him in something else where the fans could believe he had a shot of losing.

The CEO is in the house

Mercedes Moné makes her way to the ring to do commentary for the next match.

Mina Shirakawa and “Timeless” Toni Storm (w/ Luther) vs. Julia Hart and Skye Blue

  • The finish of the match saw Toni Storm lock Skye Blue in the TCM Chickenwing to win the match via submission for her team.

Winners: Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa

After the match, Storm ate some of Mercedes’ steak at ringside.

Grade: B+

This was a fun tag match. Mercedes’ reactions during the match were very funny. I’m really looking forward to their big match next month at All In: Texas.

MJF doesn’t want Hangman to win the AEW World Championship

Will Ospreay is backstage with Lexy Nair to discuss his match with Swerve Strickland next week. He’s interrupted by MJF, who tries to convince Ospreay to stay out of Swerve and Hangman’s business. Friedman doesn’t want Hangman winning the AEW World Title.

MJF talks about Ospreay’s kid and is about to get laid out, but The Hurt Syndicate intervenes and de-escalates things.

The Hurt Syndicate wants a challenge

The Hurt Syndicate make their way to the ring. MVP and Bobby Lashley heel up the crowd a bit before MVP claims there is no tag team in AEW good enough to challenge them for the tag team titles. You’d think a team would have come out and said nothing, but nope.

MJF says he wants gold just like the rest of The Hurt Syndicate, which means he needs to wrestle more. Friedman lays out a challenge for Mistico for Grand Slam Mexico if he can impress him with his match next week at Summer Blockbuster.

This brings out Komander, Speedball Mike Bailey, and Kevin Knight. Komander talks down to MJF while Speedball says they are a trio of killers. This makes MVP laugh, and he says if they want a chance to challenge The Hurt Syndicate, they can earn it. This brings out LFI for their match with Speedball, Knight, and Komander.

Speedball Mike Bailey, Kevin Knight, and Komander vs. LFI

  • The finish of the match saw Kevin Knight hit The Beast Mortos with the UFO to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Speedball Mike Bailey, Kevin Knight, and Komander

After the match, The Hurt Syndicate came back out, and MVP says they have earned a trios match against The Hurt Syndicate next week. The Hurt Syndicate hit the ring to attack, but are taken down by the high-flying trio.

Grade: A-

Best match of the night so far. This was a ton of fun, and it was a great mix of hard-hitting moves and high-flying action. I enjoyed the hell out of that.

Paragon joins forces with Daniel Garcia tonight

Alicia Atout is backstage with Paragon and Daniel Garcia. Adam Cole pitches the idea of the four of them teaming up later tonight to take down The Don Callis Family. Garcia accepts, and that match will take place later this evening.

When the show returns from commercial break, Lexy Nair is backstage with The Patriarchy. Christian Cage gives Nick Wayne grief for not winning the Best of the Super Juniors tournament. Cage says that the schedule he worked should earn anyone a night off, but he’s not anyone. Cage says Wayne will defend his title later tonight in a four-way match.

Max Caster’s open challenge is answered by Powerhouse Hobbs.

Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Max Caster

  • The finish of the match saw Powerhouse Hobbs hit Max Caster with a spinebuster to score the pinfall victory in less than a minute.

Winner: Powerhouse Hobbs

Grade: A+

I don’t think this will ever get old to me. Watching Max Caster get his ass kicked every week is very entertaining to me. 10 out of 10, no notes!

AEW International Championship: Kenny Omega (c) vs. Brody King vs. Claudio Castagnoli vs. Mascara Dorada

  • The finish of the match saw Kenny Omega hit the One Winged Angel on Mascara Dorada to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And still International Champion, Kenny Omega

Grade: A+

I think we just peaked tonight, folks. I can’t imagine anything else on this show will be better than what we just saw. But I would love to be proven wrong. That match was fantastic!

Kicking off the third hour in a big way!

After the match, Kazuchika Okada comes to the ring and he faces off with Omega. The two men come to blows, which ends in Okada escaping before he could get hit with the One Winged Angel.

We hear from Ricochet, who says he’ll be watching and scouting tonight in an effort to start a new stable to put gold around his waist.

Will Ospreay vs. Lio Rush (w/ Action Andretti)

  • The finish of the match saw Will Ospreay hit Lio Rush with a pop-up Styles Clash to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Will Ospreay

After the match, Andretti and Rush attack Ospreay. Hangman Page hits the ring to make the save.

Grade: A

They probably couldn’t have picked a stronger match to kick off the third hour than that. This show is really flowing beautifully at the moment. I’ll see how I feel at the end of the night.

Hangman Page is his own man

Hangman Page gets on the microphone and says if Ospreay has his back, he’ll have his. However, Page says he doesn’t need help to beat Jon Moxley at All In: Texas. Page says he doesn’t need Ospreay’s help, and he certainly doesn’t need Swerve Strickland’s help either.

Page promises that he will never need help from Swerve Strickland. Hangman says All In: Texas will be his night. Jon Moxley hits the ring, and the two men have a face-off as the rest of the Death Riders surround the ring.

Ospreay returns to the ring with two steel chairs and hands one to Page. This forces Moxley and the Death Riders to back down and leave.

FTR (w/ Stokely Hathaway) vs. Atlantis Jr. and Templario

  • The finish of the match saw FTR cheat behind the referee’s back to score the pinfall victory on Templario.

Winners: FTR

After the match, Stokely Hathaway gets on the microphone and announces that FTR are the winningest tag team in AEW history.

Grade: A-

Very good tag match. They continue to build FTR for something important. You’d think they should be stepping up to The Hurt Syndicate, but everyone believes we’re on a collision course with Cope and Cage. However, to get there, they need to do something to turn Christian sooner rather than later.

A vignette airs for Thekla, who will be in action later tonight.

Kyle Fletcher, Konosuke Takeshita, and Hechicero (w/ Don Callis) vs. The Outrunners and Bandido

  • The finish of the match saw Kyle Fletcher hit the sheerdrop brainbuster on one of The Outrunners to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Kyle Fletcher, Konosuke Takeshita, and Hechicero

Grade: B

The match was fine. Probably the weakest thing on tonight’s show. Not saying it was bad, but it wasn’t great either. Probably could have done another women’s match instead of that.

Tay Melo returns at AEW Fyter Fest!

Backstage, Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford are making fun of Harley Cameron for being injured and reveal that Anna Jay is on her knees at their feet. Bayne drags Jay out onto the stage and goes to hit her with Fate’s Descent off the stage. But before she can, Tay Melo returns with a kendo stick to save the day. Security separates the four women.

Ricochet makes his way to the ring to do commentary for the next match.

Ring of Honor World Television Championship: Nick Wayne (c) (w/ Christian Cage & Mother Wayne) vs. Sammy Guevara vs. AR Fox vs. Lee Johnson (w/ Blake Christian)

  • The finish of the match saw Nick Wayne hit AR Fox with a Prodigy Driver to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Still Ring of Honor World Television Champion, Nick Wayne

After the match, Christian Cage parades around with the title before handing it to Nick Wayne, and they all walk out together.

Grade: A-

That was a really fun match in the fourth hour of this show. Things continue to build for a split between Wayne and Cage. I just hope they hurry up and do it.

Thekla vs. Lady Frost

  • The finish of the match saw Thekla lock Lady Frost in the Death Trap to win via submission.

Winner: Thekla

After the match, Thekla continued to attack Lady Frost until Queen Aminata made the save.

Grade: B+

This was definitely a showcase match for Thekla to show fans new to her what she’s capable of. I think Frost did well putting her over and making her look like a star.

After the commercial break, Queen Aminata was backstage and challenged Thekla to a match next week.

It’s announced that Kenny Omega will face Kazuchika Okada in a winner takes all match at AEW All In: Texas.

Paragon and Daniel Garcia vs. The Don Callis Family

  • The finish of the match saw Adam Cole hit the BOOM on Rocky Romero to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Paragon and Daniel Garcia

Grade: B+

Paragon and Daniel Garcia celebrate in the ring as AEW Fyter Fest goes off the air.

AEW Fyter Fest Review:

I think four hours for a show on a Wednesday night is too long. That being said, this was still a damn good show tonight. I think if you swapped out The Outrunners match for a third women’s match, this show probably was as perfect as you could ask for a four-hour TV show to be. Hopefully, they can continue this momentum into next week’s show and deliver again.
